Hi there! I am seeking a 1956 Kelvinator Foodarama scratch guard for the right door (as it's a 1956, it would be the rectangular, iridescent gold one that says "Foodarama". If anyone has a Foodarama they're parting out, or considering parting out, I'd love to buy if you have one (or even the set if you have both, and possibly additional parts, so I can have extras just in case).

I just purchased a one-owner working Foodarama in amazing condition, and it not only runs and has been in continual use since 1956, but still has EVERYTHING...the juice pitchers, the butter dish, cheese tray with original cellulose sponge, Handitray, ice trays, original owner's manual and brochure, purchase receipt and all repair receipts over the years - just amazing and the owner kept it in really great condition. However, the shipper partially dropped it in transit and broke the right scratch guard that goes behind the door handle (handed me a shard that said "RAMA" when they arrived and were like "whoops"), as well as denting the left door pretty bad.

I'm devastated because this is my dream fridge and I've searched almost 20 years for one. It was just supposed to need a paint touchup and now instead I've got to try and find a matching scratch guard and someone in my area able to remove the dents. I let the fridge stand for 24 hours before plugging it in. It did fire right up and cools great, so at least no mechanical damage it would seem, but it's still such a bummer...what should have been a really exciting "fulfillment of a dream" type moment was tainted and now I'm just filled with anxiety over whether I'll ever be able to find the elusive scratch guard. :'( Thanks in advance to anyone who might have any leads! I've reached out to a few vintage appliance restorers who have actual websites, but there aren't all that many and so much of the industry seems to be largely word-of-mouth.

Best,
~Bri

Thank you so much; I will check them out! Also looking for any vintage appliance restorers in Pittsburgh or the surrounding areas if anyone knows any...can't seem to find any online. I'm originally from California where there's tons so it's a bit of a culture shock to me that I can't find a single one in business around here. None of the appliance repair companies around here will tackle dents; I'm desperately calling local body shops hoping to find one adventurous soul willing to try.

Restorer near pittsburgh

There's a guy on Facebook named Josh Otto Krentz who specifically restores Philco V Handles and Kelvinator Foodaramas. I think he's located near Allentown PA. You should find him on FB and reach out. He probably has the part you're looking for as well.

Thank you so much!!! I found him by searching that group and have messaged him to inquire. Amazing - I'm so much more hopeful now and appreciate the help of you lovely people. :`) <3

The Monitor Top forum has a section for "Other Vintage Refrigerators" and may offer some leads, but I think you'll get all you need from Josh.

Just in case, here's the link (you'll likely have to join in order to post anything):

UPDATE: 1956 Kelvinator Foodarama Restoration

UPDATE: I just want to thank everyone so much who recommended me to that FB group and Josh Otto Krentz. I highly, highly recommend Josh to anyone who needs a restoration. There was a waiting list but it was worth it - he's almost done and just sent photos.

Before/after below...I was so positive nobody could ever straighten those doors out after the jerk shippers dropped my fridge and caved it in, but lo and behold, wizardry! 😍😍😍 He was able to replace the scratch guard as well, though it's another one that says "Kelvinator" and not "Foodarama" - so annoyed at the jerk shippers who broke it that I don't have anything that says "Foodarama" on the front now since it's such a great name, but it's a very tiny price to pay overall!
