self-chilled mini ice cream machine

last week,at a 2nd hand shop,noticed a little italian made tabletop ice cream
machine that had a miniature refrigeration system to chill the cylinder where the
ice cream forms!-peeking through the grille,the condenser with it's little fan
could be seen.The ice cream cylinder was about 5"dia,x6" deep as i recall-a little
smaller than the cylinder on typical U.S. ice water/brine chilled home ice cream
machines.This italian machine said"gelattio"or something on it.There was no price
on the machine,so i asked about it and they said they were holding it to see if
thier daughter wanted it for the grandkids...Hopefully she doesn't and it is
offered for sale.

These are great!

I had one of these. They actually work very fast and make great ice-cream.
I would get it if the price was right and it worked well.
If you decide you don't want it, they go for a good bit on Ebay.

I've had one for many, many years, use it infrequently.  It does a very nice job, but I rarely eat ice cream anymore so it gets little use.
