Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

You might be able to get the timer repaired. There are places in UK that repair timers for automatics but not sure about the simple twin tub ones. There may be similar firms in Italy. If it's clockwork you might even try a horologist.

Hi fido unfortunately not...
I disassemled the front panel again today and brought the timer to the same place I brought it's original ones asking to fix them, it was the most able of the watchmaker in my town ( an I live in one of the most important  worldwide centers regarding gold,  jewels and  watches  manufacturing and sell...) he said he is not into timers so he could not help even this time ....Actuallt first I called the place where I bought it for a return  and exchange since it was used barely 3 times and they said it is not possible  arguing it was my fault...ha ha...not the junky chinese timers they sell, no! My fault! It's original one made in Uk in the 60s lasted 50 years and only reason it got broken was probably by the 80kg of machine on it during a careless shipping travel.
And this stupid china junk lasted 3 times and paid it 30 euros!  Anyway I then realized that even if  the watchmaker could have helped he would have charged me alot more than what I paid for.....it was just a try, I imagined he could not help even this time   since the last experiences.
Anyway  I've now received a timer that my sister purchased for me from ebay as a surprise  trying to help me,  she bought it  in secret after I showed it to her  one day I shared my concerns to her about finding spare ones, initially I hoped it was good also posted a link on here in the other old  (expired) thread about my machine , later I realized it would not  have fit the machine since  the spline was too short but she never knew this then,  in the meantime I did already buy another one, she wanted to keep it a surprise,  after she told me already bought this one for me and she  hoped it would have came quicker,  I had to say her it was no going to be good anyway   ....so a funny  story and I thank my sister so much for trying...but as said actually this timer is of no help, not  suitable for my machine, but is very nice and also have a bell.
I'm at starting point even with the timer and feeling frustrated for everything... I'm not going to purchase timers from those people again so have to look elsewhere and already went in all the places selling timers in the area...
I can read  that Keith found an original timer and if it is fine for him I would ask him if he could sell it to me along with the knob, that would be nice to have an original one and it will just fit into the original one without modifying it, I was  at trying finding ways to do that, I unscrewed the internal metal plate of the broken knob and tried to fill it  with  a hardener plaster  to get the new spline shape, it was a try to see if this method worked,it didn't, the plaster got broken  immediately when I tried to turn it, (you can see infact that in the last picture it had the broken knob on it),   anyway if Keith is willing to  I will offer to send him  the one that my sister purchased maybe he can fit another twin tub if he has others,  it unfortunately is not going to have any uses for me,  it would be nice if it can be useful for someone else, it is a nice timer and I like the chromed finish...I'm posting pics later.
Thank you again!
Freddy

Ah, I didn't realise it was a new timer, I had assumed it was another old one from a Servis.

Hi Freddy,

We will get this machine going one way or another !! LOL

Here is the Timer & knob, I think they should be indentical to what you have, apart from this timer does work...well saying that i haven't tested it, but it certainly did when it was taken off them machine, and it ticks nicely :) As i mentioned before the knob doesn't have the chrome insert, tried looking everywhere, but to no avail.

Sent me your address, I will send you a private email as well.

Regards
Keith

Thank you so much Keith! I'm going to send you an email now, thank you!

Yes the timer looks identical in shape,  only difference my original one does not have that sticker but of course is the same thing,
If the mechanism works that the important as the contact is a really simple mechanism and eventually if it would be broken I always have my broken one to fit the terminal contact part.
Thank you for the knob also!
Iwrite you a pvt message right now.
Thank you again Keith!

You all guys are so kind and  helping me alot, you make me so happy, thank you infinitely!

Hi Freddy,

No Probs, I glad i can help you out...I will package it up and send it off next week. I got your address through. The wires aren'nt marked but there are only two, so hopefully you will get them round the right way.

Your machine was the first twin tub i obtained, that was nearly 20years ago..I really liked though, especially the "Deep Rinse"

Anyway, I will gett the timer & knob off to you early next week :)
Cheers
Keith
