Shag Carpeting Anyone???

Here is a vintage Hoover model 1076 circa 1972 grooming and cleaning a piece of vintage (for real!!) shag carpeting. Thanks Buffalo Joe for this great demonstration. Who wouldn't love a room carpeted in this stuff?

The machine is set on the shag setting and groomed the rug very well leaving good tracks. The motor bogged down on the lower settings. This was a treat to use and the carpet came very clean as a result. I think that this rug will be great to test future finds and it being about an inch or so thick will create a challenge for the cleaners too.

Oh for the love of GOD!!!

For how many year have I been telling you that the LOW setting for every carpet is bad!
Glad to see you've discovered the other three settings!!

very nice. i think i prefer the action of a beater-bar cleaner on fluffy shag. creates some movement without straining the motor or *frizzing* the tufts, the way a double brush might. other opinions, anyone?
