Small electrics.

Mr. GadgetGary turned me on to this electric pot.
Much cooler than my gas stove. Fully immersible. Probably DW safe. I can live without the non-stick coating. (But I'm tolerating it).

Here I am making a chickens soup from some bones I had frozen in the deep-freeze. The biggest benefit in my mind is it's very safe heat controlled electric. So I can sleep, do housework, run to the store, etc. and don't have to wait HOURS for the crock-pot (mijotuese) slow-cooker to get cracking.

Thank you GG for the idea, and getting this to me.
You are the BEST dear boy.

My wife has an Oster electric kettle, from the late 70's. It can be used for soups, roasts, spaghetti sauces etc. It is thermostatically controlled and immersible too.

It was my distinct and sincere pleasure.....

To turn you on my dear Toggle to the wonders of electric pot cooking....with the help of course of QVC......

And yes, it is dw safe(when you pull out the probe)...even with the non-stick coating...

I recently got an Aroma automatic rice cooker... for all of about $30 at Costco. It's the first rice cooker I've had that actually makes brown rice properly. It has separate settings for white rice, brown rice, steaming, and warming. So apparently it has some computer logic to give it the proper temperature "profile" for brown rice (long soak before boil). Tonite, I tried using its steam function, and it did very well at that, as well (I used it to steam some fresh spinach). It came with a cookbook for various rice, soup, vegetable, and meat/fish dishes. I've always felt that steaming is a healthier way to cook, so I'll be exploring the possibilities.

Of course, it's not nearly as cute as the cooker Toggle just got, and it has a non-stick pot (which I actually prefer for such cookers).

Speaking of cute.......here are some more in various sizes......

Both with non-stick interiors...SS on the outside and completely immersible and totally dishwasher-safe

Electric Pot

Steve, I have the 8 qt electric pot from QVC also. Hoever, it is all stainless. I do like it though. I know how you feel about non-stick. I have had the pot for a few years, but forget to use. It is with all of my other stuff, as you know. (Tauruses love to collect) LOL They may still have one in total stainless. You will have to check. I like the idea of non stick though, especially for making pea soup. I do have the 6 qt non-stick electric pressure cooker.

Latest addition

My latest addition is another Moulinex Moulinette. It's a chopper but very overpowered with it's 800 Watts motor, almost as powerful as a Vitamix. In less than a second you have an onion chopped! It's "TüV geprüft", so it must have been imported from Germany. There was a blender attachment available, would love to find it.

Now THAT looks like a hell of a food processor!Where can I get one of those! The blender attachment sounds interesting.Like the ribbed container-food bits can't get caught on the end of the blade-would be dragged over the ribs and dislodged-food can be "dragged" for sometime in a smooth walled container before you stop it and dislodge it yourself.

It's La Machine!

I remember this being available here in the states in the mid-70s when everyone was buying food processors. Apparently, it was a good machine but had so many hundreds of parts that people tired of it quickly.

I think Regal sold the Moulinex line in this country.

Thanks-will have to keep an eye out for one-and all of its parts--hoping one will show up at a yard sale.Have looked at many-since I work Sat mid shift-can visit the Sat AM yard sales on the way home from work.So far just droll-baby furniture and old clothes. No cool vintage appliances-just one Proctor Silex 4 slot toaster for 5 bucks-it Replaced my Cuisnart Toaster oven-that Proctor silex machine makes delcious Toast!1Just right. The Toaster is the only vintage appliance I have seen.Sometimes 70's things show up at yard sales.

While hardly as interesting as the vintage electrics, I'm quite happy with my B&D ScumBuster electric scrubber.

The bath/shower here (rental property) is one of those nasty fiberglass units that has been just about impossible to get completely clean without hours of scrubbing by hand, even with chlorine bleach (I swear to God I will never install one of those fiberglass abominations when I build a house in a couple of years!).

The ScumBuster is basically a rechargeable rotary brush with a bunch of different attachments. That plus PineSol = clean shower/tub, finally! When I started using it I could see the difference immediately (and no, it's not stripping off the fiberglass). There is also a small brush that spins itself into a narrow point that's good for getting into tight spots, and that takes care of the weird corners where I've never been able to get a hand brush to work effectively.

It's also useful for scrubbing the tiled kitchen counter, and other places that normally require much manual back-and-forth with a conventional brush.
