Hi - I have a 1968 Simpson fluid drive (similar to Speed Queens of same era) which has what seems to be an off centre tub. On spin, with nothing in it, it causes quite severe vibrations which causes the whole machine to 'walk' somewhat on the floor. I have had the tub/agitator shaft out for cleaning/minor repairs recently, but it all seemed to go back together OK. It's possible I've done something wrong, but not sure what. Any hints/suggestions welcomed.

State-side in the mid to late 60's, Speed Queen was still using the iron band, coating in plastisol, for the tub weight. By 1969 they had switched over to a plastic balance ring filled with cement.

When you had the tub out, do you recall if any chunks of the tub weight were missing or rusted out? Was the sediment tube fastened securely to the tub weight? Was the tub then installed flush on the drive tube?

Outside of items listed above, it's doubtful that any of the three leaf springs went out of adjustment while you had the outer tub out, but that would be the last thing to look at.

Thanks for the help. This machine has a concrete filled porcelain coated steel balance ring. All in tact, nothing missing. No sediment tube.

Will check tub installation.
