what did you find wrong in your touch-tronic? when I got mine, the motor seemed weak, but I discovered the foot control had been dropped; a chip of bakelite broke off and wedged in the control, preventing full pedal application-once that was fixed plenty of power
It needed a complete tear down, cleaning, and oiling. In the process I found several parts that needed replacing, such as motor mounts, feed dogs, hook drive gear sets and needle bar connecting link, so far.
Work is progressing nicely on the Singer Touch-Tronic 2000. Installed a new set of helical hook drive gears. Beats those old straight cut hard black ones all to heck. Got the belts reinstalled, new motor mounts installed, new feed dogs, re-timed the machine and checked hook to needle clearance. Lubed all bushings with Tri-flow. This machine has sintered bushings, so it doesn't have to be oiled as often as the older machines. Now I just have to see if I can get all of it's electronics to work properly, once installed. I have the s/m, so hopefully I can do it.
It's hard to see in photo 1, but a few of the cogs are missing on these gears, so the machine had lost it's timing.
