Did several loads of wash today in the Hoover TT, and used Tide "Free" HE liquid for a change from powders. Must say the results were great, but have often wondered about using enzyme based detergents with the rather short wash cycle (about 5-8 mins). Thus considering ordering some "non-bio" detergent from the UK, prolly Persil or Fairy.

Why?

Well non-bio detergents tend to be stronger than their peers to get the same cleaning results without enzymes.

While lots of suds does add to the wash day drama when using a twin tub, it does create a need for more rinses, as does some powders in general. "HE" type detergents by their nature are cleaner rinsing and IMHO better for the pump since all that detergent residue doesn't get stuck down there.

Well then?

It's been a while...

But I always used powdereds detergent in the wringer; I found they 'lasted' for at least a couple of loads, but I would often throw in a half-a-cup extra for the next load.
Hmmm... this is making me think the Simplicity needs to get used sometime soon!
I always rinsed by soaking in the laundry tub, then threw things into a final rinse with a fabric softener into the washer tub.
Sigh, this is bring back memories of the 1951 Hotpoint that I foolishly scrapped when the pump drive wheel broke....
