Anyone remember this product? I picked up a bottle of it at meijer this weekend... No pic of it yet.

The label indicates that it is detergent with built-in softener.

Thought it was cool (and at only $2.99 a deal - even if it doesn't work).

Solo

I remember it very well when I was a child. Next to Wisk, It was one of the first liquids out there. Sadly, don't expect it to be as good as the original SOLO. Totally different product.

Original Solo had a bubblegum scent. The new stuff smells like . . . well, being a Christain, I can't say it! (name that movie)

COMPANY NEWS; PROCTER & GAMBLE TO MERGE SOLO AND BOLD BRANDS
The Procter & Gamble Company plans to merge its Solo and Bold laundry detergent brands, calling the new product New Bold. Bold, a national brand which has been around since 1965, accounts for about 3 percent of the market, according to Nielsen Market Research. Solo, a regional brand available since 1979, has just over 1 percent of the market.

well it was a nice bottle anyway. So when a second manufacturer gets the patent or production rights to a certain product does the formula change? I would guess that the original formula had those dreaded phosphate (that were actually wonderful)...

Why would a second company take a good product and change it and STILL expect to turn a profit or hold on to any loyalty?

IIRC the original Solo was a detergent and fabric softener in one. Hence "solo" as the name. It came along at the tail end of the "Rain Barrel", and other detergent w fabric softener/fabric softeners for wash cycle craze.

Would guess if the patent hasn't expired, the new company makes a product under license from the patent holder. Somewhere on the bottle label should say.
