So much for my resolve not to bring stuff home anymore, it doesn't work. So here are a few goodies I couldn't say no to.
Firstly this nice Dormeyer mixer to add to the collection. It's in good shape as well other than needing a little cleaning which I've still to do . The paint is almost unscathed, a rarity in old mixers

Next this Lewyt Big Wheel vacuum cleaner. The coincidence behind this was someone on vacuumland had posted a giveaway for a Lewyt floor nozzle they had. I didn't have a Lewyt so didn't want it. The next day I'm driving home from the grocery store and see a console stereo at someones curb so naturally I have to stop.. Sitting by the console was an in great shape old Remington office typewriter and a green small size IBM Selectric. So of course those were quickly stashed in my trunk. Then I look back and what's sitting there also on the other side.. this Lewyt Big Wheel vacuum and hose.. Needs a little TLC etc but it'll be fine. I was so excited I didn't even look in the stereo cabinet

More coincidental

Over on the vacuum site a thread was going about the Airway vacuum model 55 which I don't have.. I don't have any Airways, I gave one away a different model.
I go to the gym the next morning and on my way home decide to stop in at the Restore.
I go down to the lower level where they usually would have vacs and see a plastic new Eureka, boring, then I glance down the way and what's sitting there but an Airway model 55 with hose and some attachments for $10.. So strange and really for the fact that Airways , well they just were never very common anywhere and one this old too, from around 1948ish and in such good condition..

Heres the youtube I did of the Airway

There was something else as well.. I finally had convinced mom (85) to get rid of her old tv and "entertainment centre" which housed everything incl my dads old stereo set, he died back in 94 and it really hadn't been touched since and she had no idea how to even turn it on.. So the whole units taking up a lot of landscape in her family room but of course she was hesitant to part with it. So rather than send it away I told her we'd set it up downstairs in the rek room and she could play it whenever she was down there doing laundry which made her happy even though she'll never touch it.
So I set it all up down there and go to try it out.. The JVC turntable needs a new belt and a new belt is what $15-$20 probably.. So i'm in the Restore a day or so later and find a really nice Dual 525 turntable working perfectly for $10, take it to moms and exchange it.. We played a few records and that will probably be the last time it's used. I'll get a picture later. Nice turntable though.
