Someone please explain: Agitator Activator

What the heck is it? My GE FF agitator cap says it on the top and I haven't a clue, that makes me clueless. Does it do something I'm missing?

Activator Agitator

Activator is just GE's cute little name for their agitator, Like Penta Swirl, Jetcone, Super Roto Swirl, Surgilator

yup. it activates the water to make it an effective cleaner.

I never really noticed it before,,when I did I figured, well maybe you turn this and the agitator stops or something .. oh well
