Hoover Automatic W&D

At least in the USA were made by another appliance maker with Hoover's brand slapped on the front. Somewhere in the archives of the group the name of the actual manufacturer is given.

As with everything else Hoover's service manual does tell about parts and repair but makes no mention of the units being outsourced.

Hoover wanted "in" on the fully automtatic full-sized laundry market but probably had neither the funding or wanted to invest the R&D on development. Though widely popular for those in small spaces and or tight on funds, Hoover TT's had begun to fade as "compact" top loading and or portable washing machines became widely available.

And, yes, Launderess

Hoover also tried somehow to be succesful in the market of small kitchen appliances--and other things, from electric shavers to electric fans! They did never really get enough competitive. Another member on here once wrote that 'Hoover wanted to become a BIG name in small appliances. Never happened.'

Perhaps just like Electrolux the 'vacuum tag' kept stuck on their name?

Here's a pic of a vintage Hoover blender I bought this year on eBay.
