Hi Group,
Newbie here. I was just getting ready to purchase the SQ 432 at the appliance store here in town, but have decided that I would prefer the model 542 instead (for the wife's delicate clothes). However, the appliance guy does not carry that model, but he does carry its replacement (with the electronic controls). Very leery of computers/electronics in my washer. Anybody have any advice/experience with the electronic models?
Thanks.

Brett

I didn't mean to suggest with my post above that the electronic control SQ machines are a bad choice, but that's kind of how it reads.

It's a matter of preference.  I'm a knobs and dials kind of guy and will opt for them over a smooth touchpad if possible on any appliance I own, small or large.   I wonder what manufacturers expect a visually impaired person to do with a smooth surface control panel.   Apply braille stickers that will peel off over time and with repeated use?  I'm surprised our nanny government allows them to get away with such ADA-unfriendly practices.

It may be difficult to find a brand new 542, but if you prefer mechanical controls it may be worth the trouble, and since it's a discontinued model you might get a good deal on one.

AWN 542

Are gone, however the AWN 432 has a good delicate cycle if you want mechanical controls, the electronic machines do offer a little better delicate performance and likely better control reliability, BUT no agitator long stroke washer is great for delicate fabrics, especially one that only has two speeds. A FL washer is differently a better option if dedicates are very important to you.

We have lots of blind and seeing impaired customers and touch pad controls work very well with braille overlays, I have never seen a braille overlay come off or fail.
