Got the new outer tub replaced, I did the whole job myself with new hub / lip seal kit, bearing, drive bell and new seal. Followed the online videos in addition to the directions that came in the box. Everything worked out perfect, and the machine runs super smooth and quiet.

If this rocking of the weldment assy, and also the transmission slop back and fourth normal? It felt this way when I had it completely apart, so I know it is not my work. My AWN412SP does not had this transmission slop at all, but he weldment does move. Brake shoes are great too, they stop the tub nice and fast.

Nice Job FD69

Hello,

Yes, It is normal for now...as the brake pads get broke in, it may get a little better.

That is just the nature of the transmission/tub setup on this old girl.

Glad you got it going,

FD69 Diesel, The last one of these that I overhauled, about 5 months ago...I was so peeved that it indexed, and made a squeak...I said to heck with it...pushed it aside in the line. These are the units that I will loan/rent while I do a customers high dollar HE machine...When it came time to loan...I plugged it up just to check...Ran like a million bucks. Time indeed heels all wounds!

The strange part is the brake drum is not moving, the brakes are holding firm. its like the splines / or internal parts of the tranny has slop / play in it.

You are probably correct to some degree...

Yes, it may very well be...

It only would take a little in the tranny to show up as it does in the video...still not much to worry about.

However, there is always the possibility that a little water went into the tranny...did you replace fluid?

But I wouldn't worry too much...it should work for some time.

In my opinion, the drive bell seal did not leak so I doubt water got down the tranny stem shaft. I never thought of changing the fluid, as there were no leaks, and I'm of the school of if it ain't broke, don't break it......

Tranny is doing what it's supposed to do....

It will rock back and forth slightly just like that, no worries it's working the way it should!

The motion all looks normal to me, just like my 2015 AWNE82, but that sound that goes along with it I haven't heard before. Looking at my own video, yours definitely has more play in it.

That is my point all along. I just compared it to my 2013 model AWN412SP and it has none of this slop in the tranny, however the weldment assy twist and rocks like your video.

I guess the extra use it had to rot thru an outer tub, and it being made in 2007 means it must have done a few thousand loads more than the 412.......

5 loads since overhaul and still the same.
