I was trying to find the date of manufacture for my Speed Queen dryer; there seems to be a lack of info on SQ on the internet. The only site I found to be useful (appliance411.com) gave me a date of either Dec. 1975 or 1983. I could look up the sales receipts from our store, since I know we originally sold the dryer.
Model: HG5009W (my bad, I wrote "NG" on the label with a marker; need better glasses)
Serial: S874Z897 (appliance411 insists that the "Z" has to be a "2", but look at my picture)
Today was another very simple repair to the dryer. I replaced the front drum guides with pieces of Teflon. Not only was the job easy, it was free. I have a bunch of Teflon tubing scraps in the cellar.
I know that this repair is nothing to brag about, but with the heat and humidity outside, this job is about my limit to manual labor for today, even with the air conditioners running.
