Hello - I am looking for a FL washer/dryer set for a new second floor laundry room. I've read all I can read about the Speed Queen, which we're considering mostly because of the size (we'd like something a little smaller, although we could work with a bigger machine if we need to). We've always had and liked LG, so that's also in the running.
I know there are a lot of posts about the SQ here, but I'm posting again because (1) most of the posts relate to the TL, (2) I've read about some vibration issues with the FL, but (3) it looks like maybe they have a new balancing/vibration technology within the last year or two and not much is being said about how well it works. I'm wondering specifically whether anyone has experience with a SQ FL with this new technology in a second floor laundry room. I know SQ claims their new technology is industry-leading and suitable for second-floor installation, but I'd love to hear from someone with actual experience rather than just trusting the manufacturer.
We're converting a small bedroom next to a bathroom in a house built in 1888. It's a solid house, but the room below does have plaster walls and may have been an addition (1930s?) . Without completely ripping out the ceiling below, I can't say for sure what the floor construction is like. Most of the other floors in the house are wood joists, topped with 6" diagonal subfloor planks and then topped with oak hardwood running in the opposite direction. This is probably the same or similar. The washing machine would be in a corner of the room - backed up to an external wall, but with the internal bathroom wall to the right side (for shared water/drain). It will also be housed in a to-be-built cabinet. The drain pan was already installed without any plywood reinforcement or rubber mat - I'm not sure if that can be added underneath at this point (almost certainly not without redoing some of the plumbing).
