speed queen motor hums but dosen't wash

hey guys could advise on this problem,the washer lets in water and all but it dosen't agitate,it just humms. Any idea what the cause is ?please any help would be apreciated. thanks in advance guys

Did you check to see if the belt is broke? Another question, will the machine drain or spin?

Belt

Sounds like a snapped belt to me. If the hum was the motor receiving power, but the shaft not turning it would overheat rather quickly, but if it hums smoothly throughout the cycle and never drains...my guess is the belt is gone.

It dosen't drain or Spin. Question can the capacitor cause this ?

stalled motor

a bad capacitor(if there is a capacitor)could cause the problem,but the
centrifugal switch or centrifugal mechanism is a more likely cause.
