Speaking of CA

I am there now and enjoying every minute. We toured San Diego today. A true change from the mid-west. The color, the houses, the CARS!!!! I think everyone owns as least 6!!!

The hit for me was Balboa Park. We attended an afternoon organ concert.. yes.. an organ being played outside. It was truly an awesome experience. The organ was installed in 1915 and has been played every Sunday night since. Felt sorry for the organist today as there was a malfunction with the organ and none of the presets or couplers would work... so he had to manually change all stops. Now if he were the regular organist this would probably not be a big deal, but he was a guest organist... YIKES!!!!

Well better get some sleep and of to the Crystal Cathederal tomorrow to see yet another wonderful organ. I beleive that organ to be one of the three largest organs in the US

The garden looks wonderful, maybe one day I'll have a fish pond. I've always always wanted one but the climate here isn't the best and the season so short.

Ahem

Louis,

You are correct, sir. The clothes line is around the corner of the house, in an area I call the courtyard. It's not particularly picturesque, although the laundry does brush against a row of potted citrus trees I keep beside the home.

I'll see what I can do about taking some photos of the clothesline. Probably this weekend, when I'll have some wet laundry to display.

And a shot of the light blue bath sheets (100% long-staple Egyptian cotton, yum) hanging out to dry after a 15 minute unheated air-fluff in the Neptune dryer.

The rock garden and fish pond are right around the corner, to the left.

Rich,

Forgot all about this thread, and I was the one asking for pictures!! Sorry, but I was very busy. Thanks for sharing the pictures, very nice. I remember you told about the pulleys on THS when you bought them. Nice system. The pictures look very Californian to me. Love the yellow in the pictures, makes it all even more sunny than it already is.

Louis

Glad you enjoyed the photos, Louis. The yellow is nice, yes, but I've been thinking of changing it to something more dramatic (as you can see, the garage is in need of repainting). Maybe I'll get to it this summer. Apparently at one time the entire home was painted the pale green you see in the patio kitchen.

Pete,

Yes, I looked at a LOT of clothesline pulleys before settling on the Wright Aluminum ones. It was a no-brainer once I found them, they are light years better than anything else on the market. Some designs are so shoddy they are downright dangerous - razor sharp edges on the stamped steel pulley wheels, which I think could easily take off a finger or at least inflict a very serious wound. Or the assemblies can't take much tension and fall apart in use. Amazing. The Wright ones do cost two to three times other ones, but they are well worth the extra $$$. We're talking maybe $10/pulley vs $4/pulley. Big deal!
