Not sure how common these are across the world, but we had one around the house since the probably early 90s. It's actually been always bought, owned and maintained by my grandma.
I only faintly remember the first one. Fixed hose and floor brush.
That was replaced by a unit that was pretty sure a Polti made one. That may have lasted about 7 years with pretty frequent monthly use. Then it leaked water and later steam.
So it got replaced by a Kärcher SC1503 which started leaking the past few uses, so that will be replaced sooner or later, probably with a SC3 or SC4.
I always loved steam cleaning for those once or twice a year jobs, like deep cleaning kitchen and bathroom, or cleaning our wooden ceelings.
I'm currently moving to our top floor which has been more or less empty for the past year. My mum used the belonging bathroom as "smoking room", and today I cleaned the whole area down. (Before I go big shopping to IKEA on Saturday, yay!)
The bathroom looked quite yellowed overall, so I grabbed the Kärcher (with a side note from grandma that it is leaking and I should look out for something new) and went ahead. And boy, that was a lot of yellow grime. The ceeling does not look any cleaner, even though I dirtied up 3 rags cleaning it. The tiles on the other hand looked clean, but another 3 rags later they actually were.
I'm just always impressed at the ability of steam to actually clean such stuck on stuff.
Anyway, my questions: Do you have a steam cleaner? Do you use it? What for? And any brand recomendations?
