I have a 1940s Fridgidaire range. I have the owner's manual for it as well. I'm looking for tips on what to clean the inside of the oven with. I tried baking soda and water but its not really cutting it. In the manual it says the bottom radiant can be removed but I'm a bit nervous to do that too, I don't want to break anything in it. Any suggestions on whats safe to use for these older appliances? Its funny- the range has made it this long and I'm more nervous about damaging it than I was my newer, more cheaply made one.

If it's a standard porcelain coated interior, regular oven cleaner should be fine. Just follow the instructions on the can. That's how I clean our 1961 Frigidaire and it always comes out great.

Do you take your heating element out if you can? I think it is porcelain, has a little rust in some small areas, do you think that would be an issue? Thanks for the suggestion!
