Sunbeam Mixmaster eBay crazieness

I've been on the hunt for a yellow Sunbeam Mixmaster from the '50s 10 or 12 speed.  Have a saved search on ebay for one.  Last week one was listed for $35, low but not unreasonable from what I've seen.  I guessed it would sell in the $50-$60 range, I was prepared to go that high, but tonight it closed at $152.50!!!

 

I've got a set of yellow bowls, just need the matching mixer. The second bidder got it, I guess they really wanted it.  Wild.

Some years ago bought a Sunbeam mixer just like that with both matching yellow containers and beaters for a fraction of that EBay price.Got the machine from the late Kelly who was on this site.Love the machine.And miss Kelly.Got other mixers from him,too.Will hang onto them!!!

Yes, I miss Kelly too. He gifted me a Kitchenaid toaster and I think of him often when I use it. I wonder what happened to his great collection. I'm sure his family wanted some but there was a great deal of stuff there.

Concurrence

I think many of us sorely miss Kelly and were also the recipients of his generosity in so many areas, especially Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixers. I too, think of him often and was blessed to be the recipient of a white Mixmaster that he shipped to me when he was liquidating much of his collection several months before his passing.

What a kind and great person Kelly was.

He posted me a set of dough hooks for a 1960's A12 - they were never available here.

A truly lovely man and a gentleman to boot.
