Rich (Perc-o-Prince) and his other half Chuck convinced me to get away from the computer this weekend (I was working on an expedited medical transcript) and have a little fun. So, they came down to Rhode Island and got me out of the house for a little while. After poking around in our local second-hand store, we hit the grocery store and decided to get to some serious cooking.

Actually, I picked up a rotisserie yesterday at a yard sale, hopefully to convince my brother to start cooking healthy, but I wanted to take it for a test drive before giving it to him.

Thought you would all enjoy a few pictures of the fun!

Ron

Here's a picture of me "choking my chicken." Actually, Chuck made me say that!

yummy~

I didn't see the rotisserie though~

also, I think the chicken goes in ass end up on a vertical rotisserie, so the juice runs into the breasts, but just make sure not to block the neck or it can actually fill up the cavity with juice~.

Looks yummy. What time is dinner?

I remember it like it was yesterday...

Oh, wait, it was just a couple of hours ago!!!

It was a nice time, as always, and we got to play with Ron's pussy too (yes, he has a cat)! Add in an outing to Price Rite and the thrift store, plus King of the Hill, and we were all set! Poor Nancy. She's losing her hair 'cause John Redcorn isn't "treating" her for her headaches three-to-five times a week!

The Black & Decker Smart Rotisserie actually works backwards! Instead of the meat turning, the heat does! There are three elements around the inside. They take turns turning on in rotation, two at a time! I don't think I got a shot of the beast in the rotisserie, did I, Ron?

Very cool indeed!!!

Chuck

stationary vertical broiler?

with rotating heat source~? Far OUT~

Never heard of such a thing but from the looks of how dinner cooked, it seems to work.

It must be quieter than a rotisserie with those noisy motors running for an hour or so. I like a rotisserie, but I wish they were quieter - and there you've found it~.

Kewl~

Hoover, Very simple recipe. Rinse and towel dry the broccoli rabe then cut off about 1 inch of the ends. In a large pan, put olive oil and garlic (you determine amount of garlic depending on how strong you want it). Once the garlic is sauted, place the broccoli in the pan, cover and simmer. It's delicious!!

Bundtboy,

I was quite surprised to find out how this worked. As a matter of fact, when I got it home and plugged it in, it turned on, and then I thought, oops, it doesn't work because nothing was turning. It took me a while to figure out that the food stays in one place and the heating elements alternate turning on and off, creating a circular type motion. Also there is a center heating unit, so the food actually cooks from both the inside and the outside. If you want to check out more about this unit, it is the Black & Decker SmartRotisserie.

rare item

There are no b&d smart rotisseries on ebay, or that I can find for sale anywhere, actually. It must be rare.

Probably was produced the same time they made the Infuze vacuum coffee brewer, which too is no longer available.

Sounds cool though and i'll keep my eyes peeled for one.

BTW

That's broccoli rabe, and not regular, garden-variety, brocolli. Very different in taste and texture, though it does have clusters that look like little broccoli florettes (Broccoli Florettes: an excellent drag name!).

I meant to add a little to that before posting. If you like collards, swiss chard, and other greens on the tangy or bitter side, rabe is for you! Super healthy! And, if you really wanted to, you can tame greens like that with a little balsamic vinegar or a tiny sprinkle of sugar while cooking them! I likes 'em both ways, but always with garlic!!!

Looks like a great time and great food. What, no dishwasher load pictures? Ron, I love the vintage correlle ware. I have the matching pattern of pyrex coordinate cassarole dishes, just about everyone that was produced in that line. Original 1974/1975 owner too.

I too admire your Correlle. I recently picked up 4 of the medium sized plates and 4 of the small bowls that match your cool set.
The food looks great, guys!!
