Our family attended a Brethren Church when I was a kid. $ times a year we had communion ond once a year served the Love Feast complete with a foot washing service. At each of these occasion it was the duty of the Deacon's wife aka deaconess to make the communion bread. It was made so that two people shared one piece of bread that was scored in the middle so that you could "break bread together". I found the recipe behind a cupboard and my mouth began to water remembering how good it is.
Communion Bread
5 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup cold butter
Crumble together and add
2 cups heavy cream
Work until dough comes together. Roll out on floured surface and cut into strips. Cut into 3 inch lengths. Scored each length into half using a fork. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
