I'm not ready to start shipping parts but yet I want to take a general count of how much I need to make in advance. I'm going to offer these parts again like the last time at $75 a piece. The choices are:

1958-1962 Yellow Lint Chaser Rings
1958-1962 Coral Pink Circulator Rings
1958 Detergent Cap Turquoise
1959 Detergent Cap Turquoise
1960 Detergent Cap Turquoise
1961-1962 Detergent Cap Turquoise

Please be advised in 1960, 1961 and 1962 they punched a hole in the detergent cap to allow air to enter for the fabric softener dispenser. I molded these without the hole as it is very splashy if you don't have the fabric softener dispenser. Let me know if you want a hole punched in your cap, I prefer them without the hole as it makes for less splashing with the lid open for watching the cycle.

I am also going to create mold for the solid tub Norge outer tub Boot used from 1951-1965 solid tub models. If you're possibly interested in that please let me know.

One other thing I want to mention is I was having a bit of problem making the mold for the 1961-1962 cap. The first time it failed, the 2nd time it came out pretty well except there is a minor imperfection along the side of the cap which isn't very noticeable but I strive for as perfect as possible. None of these parts are 100% perfect as you can only make a copy of an original and all the originals are 60+ years old, but they still look amazingly well almost like it's 1958 again!

I'll also message you about this, but please put me down for a yellow Lint Chaser and and coral pink Circulator rings as well as a Norge tub boot. Although I adapted a VW u-joint boot for the 55 Norge it was something of beeyatch to seat properly and I just KNOW it'll give at some point....

Question - are you making any lid bumper pads? Asking for my 65 Inglis Superb... LOL

Need the complete kit for my 62 custom imperial

While the original parts are still serviceable and being used, I would like to get the cap lint chaser and circulator rings, I also would like to have the hole in the cap because I do use the fabric softener dispenser, I can add the hole if it’s a problem.

Should I go ahead and send money or do you want to send a bill

Thanks Robert

Booty-licious!

The solid tub outer tub Norge boots are done! I'll water test it tomorrow but it fits like a glove! I had one good original boot for a master that wasn't perfect but all the sealing surfaces on the inside of the boot were in fine condition to make a mold out of. Don't tell anyone I'll have an orange boot in hidden in the outer tub lol.[this post was last edited: 10/13/2024-19:40]

Paul - If you are OK with aftermarket, I use the Supco lid bumper pads LP947 for belt drive machines. They come in a pack of 50 but if you don't want that many you can buy individually at Amre. No modification is necessary for the washer and I've had success using on other machines as well. If they are too high for a machine you can just slice it down with a sharp knife.

Sorry, didn't mean to derail this thread. I'm in awe of your abilities Robert, those replacements look incredible. The ability to reproduce these parts, particularly something like a boot is a total game changer.

I don't have a Westinghouse but I've seen them come up on classified sites once in a blue moon but have never pursued as I know the boots are NLA and the washer becomes a bit of a boat anchor if it needs a new one. There have been several threads over the years about getting Westinghouse boots made - strictly out of curiosity, is that something your technique could reproduce? Or those Kelvinator boots that are also NLA?

Hi James, Kelvinator boots for sure I should be able to make and that is on my list of things to get to. As for the Westinghouse boots, I'd have to make a fully study of them as I'm not sure my process would work. These have tight folds and turns that may not work in my mold making process.

Lastly I wanted to post installation instructions for the lint chaser and circulator rings. They aren't terribly hard to install but I figured out a few tricks to make it easier. They were molded from new old stock rings, so just like they are suppose to when they are brand new they fit really tight. You can install them with the dispenser in the machine or like I do removing it first. It's easier to get them on the dispenser with it in the machine but its then easier to determine if they are properly seated with the dispenser taken out...

*GASP*

Do I spy a 18-20 Kitchenaid dishwasher???

Surely that's far too new for the webmasters tastes.

Speaking of Bitchenaids, any chance for a rear upper rack accordion boot for the 18 models? Impossible to find now but I do have an NOS one I can send if you want to give it a shot.

Glad you guys like them, it sure is amazing to look in and see how the rings looked in the store in 1958 looking down into the machine. It was breathtaking to me when I first saw it.

Dan yes I have an KDS-18 now in the kitchen. I had a NOS never used KDI-17 and converted it into a KDS-18, even added the holes and mounted the water heater and thermostat. My KD-12 Window door KA had developed a leak so it's in the basement waiting until I have some spare time to work on it. I just looked at that boot in the 18 and that would be a very simple mold to make, but I would only do it with a NOS boot. Is that plastic piece that has four support vanes part of the boot or is that inside the plastic holder assembly?

Converting a KitchenAid KDI 17 to KDS 18

Hi Robert, that sounds like quite a project. Would love to see pictures of how you did this. Those two machines are quite different completely different pump tank size, etc.

Are you actually saying you converted maybe a KDI 18 to a KDS 18? Which would be a little easier.

John

"Is that plastic piece that has four support vanes part of the boot or is that inside the plastic holder assembly?"

It's inside the plastic insert, they're separate. I can send you the bellows whenever you're ready.

Hi Dan, thank you. Quick question, so how does this part go bad when it does and does this happen often with KD-18s? I'm just asking as it appears to only deflect the water inwards to the upper rack tube.

Is this a part that people are often looking for?

The boot eventually tears/splits and water pressure is lost. It's a common failure now that these machines are almost 50 years old. It only applies to the 18 series KA's (very first 2 wash arm model), the 19+ series was redesigned but the upper constant rinse was deleted in those.

Got my new Frigidaire rings in the mail

They look great. I soaked them in a half gallon of water from the instant hot out 185° soaped up the column in the washer and slide them into place with no real problem, I’m glad you emphasized lining up the wording on them Robert I always hate that when a plumber installs a garbage disposal and never lines up the words it’s always upside down or sideways lol

Didn’t have a lot of laundry to do but was anxious to try it so I grabbed a couple sweatshirts and three pair of pants loaded the machine properly seem to work very well as usual with the circulator ring not being loose on the column I think it actually washes a bit better However as usual, that’s not the type of Frigidaire came out all knotted up lol

John
