Who makes this Tandil (Aldi store brand) detergent? I'm stocked up on Tide liquid without bleach and orange Ultra Plus so I bought this jug so I would have something with bleach in case I needed or wanted it. I'm happy with how well it did and the smell. It got a greasy spot off of a sleeping bag, and smells almost just like Tide, but costs a lot less. It's easily the best cheap detergent that I've ever bought, and is probably better than All and certainly better than Purex.

It's not HE and is made in the USA, so I know that it's not the same as the German Tandil.

To be honest, Aldi's store-brand products have never been 'bad' to me. Some aren't my favorite, but none of it has been inedible or worthless. Their Moser-Roth chocolate is pretty much the equal of more expensive chocolate and comes in convenient little bars. They don't have everything, but if you can get something at Aldi, it'll be both cheap and good.

I shop there a lot...go there first then
Save-A-Lot and then to ShopRite...

never tried the tandil, but i do get the Vista dish soap in both hand wash and machine wash...and bleach by the cases

most stuff there not all that bad....very cheap...also like the extras like, electronics, clothing, utensils, seasonal mdse...most worth checking out...

Aldi is where we do the largest proportion of our shopping these days. Compared to Woolworths and Coles and the local 'Supabarn', they are certainly cheaper and the quality of their 'cheap' is fantastic. Supabarn, which is a locally owned supermarket with 6 stores (1 in sydney) has the best fresh produce quality this side of a farmers market though and brands you are unlikely to find in a Woolworths or Coles (who hold the majority of the Australian market)

Our biggest savings are probably on bread, cheese, coffee and other consumables such as rice. I do consider the centre aisle to be a trap though....all those things that I didn't go in for but may possibly buy....

Their Trimat powdered laundry detergent is in the top 3 highest performers on the Australian market though it is heavily perfumed. The Almat is also a better performer than every other brands 2nd tier powder.

Good quality, good value and certainly worth a try...

Oh, and the 'Tandil' brand here is dishwashing liquid

Woolworth

I always have to grin a little bit when someone in another country talks about going to Woolworth. The last ones in the US closed 15 years ago, and that was the parent company. The ones in the UK, Germany, Australia, and I guess others, must've been spun off or sold at some point.

FWIW, Aldi is the only store I've seen that sells two different store brands of laundry detergent. Tandil says "Compare to Tide 2x," and has packaging that closely mimics Tide's trade dress. They also sell Astra, which says "Compare to Purex" on the jug and looks like a Purex jug. Astra always makes me think of Jeremy Clarkson railing about English Panda cars. My brother once had a Saturn Astra when his car was being fixed and I thought it was a really nice little car.
