Tech says my 1947 Simmons Electric Blanket is FIXED!

OMG, you have no idea how happy this makes me.

This is what I have

The control has tubes in it, and the blanket itself is beyond awesome. It's the most even heating blanket, and it really does adjust itself according to body heat, etc. It's dead on.

I've spent a fortune on it, but what killed it was bad/incomplete rebuilds from other techs. This one got it going though. It worked for about six weeks before after the other techs worked on them then died again. This one did it right.

I use!

A GE from the early 60s...many years and it works much better than the new ones.

the controller has three tubes in it. 6SN7, 6SL7 and a GL 1367. The 1367 (gas thyraton) has two functions, it controls the relay that controls the heater circuit in the blanket and it's also the protection circuit. If there's a problem in the blanket and/or controller, the tube goes out/stops functioning.

That's exactly what happened, the bad/incomplete rebuild on the controller finally took it's toll, and the tube blew, so the protection circuit is actually working.
