On a lark I picked up some Dollar Tree dishwasher packs. 1.25 for 10 packs so roughly .13 per use. I decided to put my Consumer Reports hat on and test these on an everyday load of moderately soiled dishes .

I eat peanut butter and sugar free jam on toast in the morning, several of the plates have dried on peanut butter/jam residue from 4 days ago . None of the plates, glassware, flatware or utensils were rinsed. Additionally, I drink almond milk which leaves a very thick residue on glasses.

The model dishwasher I have is a Maytag model MDB8979SEZ0ex it has the macerator but no fine mesh filter. This model supposedly has a 1/3 hp motor and operates all three wash arms simultaneously in. My water heater is set at roughly 135 and is located in the basement directly beneath my kitchen. My water is "hard" and is not softened.

I selected the normal cycle , with the sanitize water heat boost in the main wash and final rinse with standard heated dry. I placed 1 packet in the dispenser with nothing in the prewash side and rinse aid release is set on level 5 .

Results, everything came out clean no baked on food bits , no residue and no streaks ! I will continue to use these on my everyday loads.
