Thanksgiving = dirty dishes!  Especially as my school friend was here who’s a pastry chef at Facebook.  Hence those homemade doughnuts!

Fortunately we have two dishwashers: the Holy Grail KitchenAid KDS-18, recently acquired courtesy of Rob (stricklybojack), and also a BNIB Whirlpool Power Clean, picked up for me by RevvinKevin.

These are both dishwashing powerhouses, very different to each other, each with their individual characteristics and pros and cons.  I’ve been putting them through their paces and will make a thread about them soon.  The turkey roasting pan went into the KA while the roasting rack went in the WP.  Both emerged spotless.

Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Thank you, guys!

Tom: my friend is a pastry chef in the Facebook building where there are many restaurants and cafés proving free food to employees.

I’m delighted to own these two great machines.  I’m in the process of giving them some serious challenges to see how they cope.  So far I’m finding the KitchenAid to be particularly flexible and easy to use.

THAT WP BRINGS BACK MEMORIES

I had the pleasure of using a WP DW that was almost the same model. No matter what I threw at that machine I never had to worry about something not coming out clean. The only downfall that I would say about it was the central tower in the lower rack that asst'd the upper wash arm. But you learn to work around that. I used that machine from brand new until I moved which was 12 yrs later. It was still going strong when I left there almost 15 yrs ago.

Hi Rick.  Yes I do find the funnel in the bottom rack for the upper spray arm to be inconvenient.  In fact, that’s exactly why I loaded the turkey roasting pan in the KitchenAid because I couldn’t get it to fit in the Whirlpool without blocking the funnel.  And it was too tall to “stand up” without blocking the upper wash arm.  I guess I could have loaded it at an angle, supported by other items.  But it does clean very well indeed and it’s fast.

Bob: thank you!  All my loads are BobLoads™️

The stress testing and the evaluation continue...
