Some of you may remember this machine, anyways I just put it through the ropes. The motor reverses (clutch does its thing too) and both speeds work. The water container doesn't seem to leak, and the pump had no problem with about 3 gallons of water. But this machine still needs a total restore, as the bearing is a howler. The transmission is broken, and since there is no agitate belt, so I can't tell exactly what's wrong with it. Even though this machine is a '59 I believe it has the revised clutch (without the 800+ spin). DOES ANYONE HAVE A SET OF BELTS FOR THIS MACHINE?

p.s. feel free to discuss the multi-matic mechanism and all its wonderful shortcomings :) I've never seen one of these run and I'm curious

Hey LeBron, wonderful looking machine you have there......I have a '60 Multi-Matic Deluxe model which is BOL. The transmission can be quite a chore to work on and takes a lot of patience. I have a copy of the repair manual and if you do a search on here you can find a lot of information that has already been previously posted........

EEEEEEEK! OMG! KILL IT BEFORE IT LAYS AN EGG!!

Just kidding...

Mark is right, they can be a bit of a pill to work on but where there is a will, there's a way!

Post some pictures of shots under her skirt and we'll start there. A number of improvements were made after 1959 so this was truly the guinea pig model year.

The nice thing is, it's a lighted panel so if worse comes to worse, they make pretty "mood lighting" for the laundry room ;-)

So that's why you still have it in the basement ;-)

Looking forward to your next steps Jed! IIRC:

Upper Belt: 3L280
Lower Belt: 2L320

Take those numbers to your local hardware store and they'll hook you up. They may require some *eh hem* adjustment, but you'll eventually find out why they are so fun to work on!
