I went down to the old marina/trailer park, where my grandmother lived for 27 years. My grandparents bought it as a retirment home and grandma loved the garden as much as he loved the water. When he died in 92, she continued on in the trailer. I think it reminded her of his spirit, they were the loves of each others lives.
Anyways, the trailer park/marina was sold and the new owners decided to make it into condos. So all the residents, most of whom were retired and on fixed incomes were kicked out and given $1,000 for their homes. It's a very sour subject in the family and the town. However it is waterfront and private property, so what can you do?
Anyways, in a previous post, several weeks back, I said I'd go down there and see if any of the vintage refridgerators were still there that the boat owners used for storage in the covered slips. There were at least 3 or 4 from the 40's/50's era, even a 60's Pepsi machine. I guess they have all been scrapped. It's really sad to see this place that was such a part of my life fall to ruin. Progress... ug.
