Suddenly it all makes sense! Well, sort of.

The Henkel Detergent Fox

I bet he uses Persil because you can see his shirt and gloves are whiter than white!!!!!
P.S.Is that a box of german Persil he is is explaining?,because it looks like it to me.
Cheers.
Steve.

IIRC the fox is associated with "Spee" detergent.

Before the wall fell, Spee was the big detergent name in East Germany. Henkel took them over and profited when Germans from the former East Germany developed a nostalgia for the old Eastern brand names they were familiar with.

Henkel updated the formula and, last time I was there, you saw it in stores sold right next to Persil (although it seemed to be priced a bit lower...)

I am almost positive that fox's pic was printed on the container.

The fox is Henkel's international mascot for budget-pric

In Germany, he sells Spee. In Italy, it's called General. The French and Portuguese hear him extolling the virtues of X·TRA and in Greece, he pushes Neo-Mat.

Same fox, same pimpy wardrobe, and in many cases, the same human actors in the TV spots, only dubbed and renamed for the different markets.

Ironically, one of the prizes you can win by playing an online game is a T-shirt with the English slogan "The Art of Being Clever."

I don't think Americans are ready for a sausage-nosed fox pushing Purex. ;)

Well, fiddlesticks!

I think he is a delightful mascot, and I would be tempted to at least try the detergent he is pitching.

The first box, however, would be what sells the second box.

I like the fox

I like the Henkel fox he is a lot of fun, does he have an actual name does anybody know?does anyone know if any other detergents have mascots extolling their virtues?
I cannot remember any Australian detergents having one, plenty of breakfast cereals do however, Tony the tiger for Kellogg's sugar frosties, Coco the monkey for Kellogg's Coco-Pops,Sam the toucan for Froot Loops.
The closest we would have had for a detergent I believe would be the Fab lady from the 70's I think her name was Madge(could be wrong though),and every time she praised Fab the box of Fab in her shopping basket would shake and shake and finally explode in an avalanche of lemons.

The Fox

Yes, the fox is the advertising figure of SPEE (speak: shpe) which was once the most popular detergent in the GDR = DDR(German Democratic Republic) and as Henkel/DDR produced it, they still produce Spee for whole Germany now - it is the cheaper version of PERSIL/Henkel.
