The Kirby 510 has been "Reno-O-Vated"

The 510 arrived yesterday from the Kirby rebuild folks. It is for a customer of mine but I thought some of you would like to see it. I wish I had some before pics!

You will note that the trim is incorrect. Kirby no longer stocks grey or red trim, all they use is the tan. The customer is not a purist like me so he did care that it is not original. All is all still a pretty vacuum.

Here is all that came with this old girl from Montana. The hose is new from Kirby

This model from 1950 has the coupler that attaches to the machine and then the hose attaches to it.

It is too bad Kirby doesn't stock the original colors anymore, but I think it says a lot that they stock any parts at all for machines that old!

wow it sure looks nice regardless if the trim isn't original, most people wouldn't know anyways. Looks like the massage cup is a replacement, maybe they wore the original out?

air-waycharlie:WOW-Brongs back memories-that was the type Kirby my folks had as a child-and they bought it the year I was born--1951-same model.So nice to see one again.I am hunting for one as well.Loved using it-As a kid-I LOVED vacuuming my room with the Kirby 510.My brothers thought I was out of it.The attchments were lost on ours in later years-My Mom mentioned they bought it from a Kirby salesman in Ohio who was "knocking doors""Van campaign" as its called now.She used to use the attachments.-and remember the grey cloth hose as a little child.Later my dad used the machine to spray varnish or some finiosh in the attic of the Ohio home --he was renovating the attic-Varnish got all over the machine-they took it to the Kirby folks-they lived next to them-and Kirby cleaned and polished it up for them.In 1972 the machine was lost in a flood.Was never found.

It wasn't until about halfway through your pics that I realized that was a 510 - so approx. 1950. They really did an unbelievable job.

Thanks for chatting, giving me all the info. I plan on beginning my Omega's journey into rehab on Monday.
