Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The worldwide perspective it seems!

I think some of their features have been lifted straight from sites not meant for the UK - e.g. advice on dosing for High Efficiency and Top Loader machines. All our machines are HE and TLs must be used in all of 2% of homes if that; even then we still have no advice on how much to use in a TL!

You just don't seem to get any actual fabric care advice these days - it's all about how to use the products and the vaguest of suggestions on how one might go about the process of washing beyond popping it in the drum!

Interesting to see Persil Handwash and Twintub is apparently now a BIOLOGICAL formulation! If only I had occasion to use some...

I suppose the stain gang app could work well for Mrs Average (they seem to neglect the idea that anyone other than a family might buy Persil and even then Dad probably isn't at the helm). Overall though, all marketing fluff and a lack of hardcore info!

Finally......

managed to get some of the new Bio Small and Mighty in Sainsbury's today. I was quite exited as I have been very impressed with the Non Bio version.

Well I tried the Bio version out on 3 white bath towels and two hand towels that had been left in the rain. The liquid is dark blue and turned the whole load green throughout the main wash and 1st two rinses. After the third rinse things seemed to be ok. After the wash was finished I was pleased to see that the green tinge had left completely! I have to say I would not usually use the express programme for towels, they had been washed on a hot wash and hung out to dry....it then rained and the rain in Edinburgh is not clean, it leaves brown streaks on your laundry.

Thanks, interesting...

What a pity that in Italy there is no more a Unilever detergent. The Italian "Bio Presto" that once used to be a Unilever product as the UK Persil is now a Henkel detergent.
I live near the Italian border and I would be happy to be able to buy a small & mighty product.

Ingemar

Ingermar meant to say that the Italian "Bio Presto" was the equivalent to Unilever Persil in Italy. Later it was sold to Henkel and now it's just a cost reduced version of Dixan, the Italian Henkel Persil.

The smell of the liquid is awful in the new formulas, way too strong!

To my nose, Persil Small & Mighty is the best smelling detergent on the market. It's got a very light, non-floral, kind of uplifting fragrance. It's quite hard to put your finger on what it is exactly but it's very pleasant.

It has a slightly citrus / lime undertone. You'd have to sniff it for real as it's very difficult to describe.

The scent of the Small & Mighty capsules is different and a bit heavier.

I bought 3 large boxes of Persil Bio powder months ago, and still have about 1-1/2 boxes left. It is my favorite detergent. I use it for large loads of very stained kitchen whites, coupled with the Sanitize cycle on my Frigidaire 4474 front-loader.

The Sanitize cycle provides a great "profile" wash, with the water being gradually heated to 152 degrees. I add liquid chlorine bleach (which is injected into the first rinse) and haven't found a stain that this combination can't remove.

I find that Persil powder rinses out much more cleanly than US Tide products, which clean well, but have tenacious suds.

I'm surprised at the way the site's wash tips seem to be written from a US perspective with references to top loaders and HE machines, when Unilever doesn't actually sell detergents in North America anymore.

Strange!

I've been usung the Bio Small and Mighty for a week now. It gave satisfactory results on a 30min quick wash with 3kg but excellent results in my machine on Minimum iron with short option, cycle time 56 mins with approx 5kg load.
