I'm not trying to out do Robert with his fabulous "new" Apex or anything.... but just a teaser here of what I go home with just over an hour ago.......
OK, OK... now that the other photos are ready.......
My Parents (mom really) had a PINK Maytag A700 washer in the kitchen as I was growing up and I have fond memories of it, with it's console and tub proudly lit. It lasted for many, many years with only one major repair, a tub seal or bearing. But did they call the appliance repair man to fix it? NO! My parents did the repair themselves!
In my late teenage years the pink Maytag was replaced (by me) ONLY because I wanted a larger capacity machine to my laundry in. I found a used, late 70's or early 80's center dial machine in harvest gold! That one lasted until a few years ago when it was replaced by a WP Duet.
So Tuesday against my better judgement I searched Craigslist, first for Kenmore, then Maytag. I then came across this ad saying "Maytag washer/dryer (Hollywood Hills) with photos. As soon as I saw the washer in the photo I KNEW it was the same as my Mom's, but not in pink... AND there was a MATCHING DRYER! OMG! I called almost immediately. The guy said he posted the ad 3 days prior and I was the first call!
It turns out this guy and his girlfriend bought this house after a guy who lived there for 40-50 years, died. The gutted the house and are remodeling it. After letting the washer and dryer (and wall oven, cooktop, dishwasher, vent hoods) sit outside in the car port the last 3-4 months, he decided to put them up for sale.
So I drive up to look at them, but by the time I got there, no one was there. Fortunately I was able to go around the back of the house to get to the car port and there they where! WOW.
I had NO idea there was a "pilot" or operating light on the washer!!! I only remember the fluorescent light!!
Below from top to bottom: the console (obviously), with the fluorescent, with the fluorescent and the "pilot" and finally, with just the "pilot" light!
Again, WOW!
I must also note: Many, many THANKS to Russell (imperialmarkxii)!!! Without his help (and his truck) they would still be sitting in the Hollywood Hills! Thank you Russell!!!
