Hi folks-
I've really been wishing to attend our 2005 Omaha Convention. I would love to see all the washers, meet all of you fine folks and do some thrift/estate sale shopping on the mainland of plenty.

The truth is I am far too busy with Appliance Garage (Maui's Appliance Care Connection!) and far too in debt. (New businesses are NOT for the faint of heart). Lucky for me, every day is an appliance convention, so I'll have to be happy with that for now.

I'm wishing all those who do attend to have a wonderful time! You will be in my thoughts

David, I knew it was a very very long shot you'd be able to come. You'll be in my thought and I'll have you near and experiencing it that way.

Sorry that you won't be able to come David--we were all looking forward to meeting you! But yes, there will definitely be a ton of pictures and videos, and I'll do a load in the Hoover Twinnie in your honor!

David, don't feel too bad; I'm only a 5-hour drive from Omaha and I can't make it due to (insert lots of cursing) work commitments. We'll have to wait for photos....

I couldn't even make it to UniRobert's wash-in---only 2-1/2 hours from me---- because I had a recording session booked with a harpist. I hate having to work for a living, damn it! I want to be a trust-fund baby in the next life, LOL!

Regretful but also hopeful!

Aw David:

I am so sorry that you won't be going to the convention. You and Dennis are in my thoughts and prayers.

I know Hawaii is quite a long distance from Omaha, and airfare must be incredibly expensive. We will have lots of pics and crazy stories to share. I really hope to meet you at the next convention; in Maui perhaps? :-)

Take care friend -

Venus

Thanks for the kind words!

I really do feel bad to not be able to meet the appliance family face to face.

Frigilux-Yeah, working sometimes bites but Dennis and I tried a short semi-retirement when we took off in the Airstream and you know what? We got bored. While it would be nice to not have to worry about money, working does something for your soul that complete leisure cannot fulfil.

Westy-You KNOW I got a soft spot in my heart for those Hoover twinnies. I still remember our Pastor did all the laundry for his wife and four kids with one of those. I was so amazed (I was 4 at the time)

Retromom- Surprisingly, airfare isn't all that bad. I probably could have done for around $650 (you couldn't drive that distance for that-even if you could drive there). Its just tough coming up with the funds when everything you own is sunk into a business. Hopefully, by the next convention, I will be the Appliance Magnate of Maui. I will leave the business in charge of my minions. And yes, since Maui is a world class destination, perhaps a convention here would be nice. Not much for vintage washers though (we substitute with surf!)

Kenmore1978-Oh, but what a place to be stranded ;)

Appnut and all the rest- I catch up with all of you next time. I don't get to spend as much time on this board as before, but its still a great place to be!

ALOHA!

Sorry to hear that you can't come, don't worry though, there will be more gatherings that will work better into your schedule. Others who wanted to attend have had to make the same decision so we may have to elect someone to upload a few pics of the group as the events move along.

Enjoy the surf! I have friends that go to Maui every February, maybe we'll have to come to you!
