Thanks for posting, Robert. My grandmother had one of these, as a sink-combination unit, at her summer/weekend home in Connecticut. The home was built in the mid-1930s and most likely originally sported one of those large double wall mounted sinks. The sink-combination units allowed people with these sinks to retrofit to a DW without costly remodeling. The sink was on the left and the porcelain top was slightly sloped (and channeled, I recall) toward the sink, so that you could place a drying rack on top and have it drain toward the sink. As a young adult, I don't recall her actually using the DW, but most of my visits were during college and grad school when at most there would be one or two other guests for a meal. Either the DW by the 1970s was no longer operating (I don't remember seeing it work, but also I don't remember anyone saying it was broken), or else for smaller meals she preferred to wash by hand. (I would clear the table and towel dry whatever I was requested to do, but I never paid attention to how the dishes and utensils were actually washed, by hand or by DW). The DW was still in place when my parents sold the home they'd inherited (sold 1993) but whether it worked or not, I do not recall, as the new owners were planning an extensive remodel of the 1930s cabinets (which were nothing special).
