Every few years or so I get the urge to clean out the basement, and right now I have a lot of stuff that I'd love to see go to new homes.  Over the next few weeks I'll be posting a few things in an attempt to reclaim my basement, LOL.

If you are interested in anything either send me a PM or shoot me an email at bswestka AT gmail.com.

First up is a super clean early 80's Speed Queen.  I put a new pump and put a cord on it, otherwise the amazing condition is how I found it.  Often times these got rusty due to the environment or excessive bleach use.   This model does have the recirculating lint filter.  While they don't have a huge following amongst us collectors, they are great daily drivers.  I was originally just planning on posting this to CL but I wanted to try here first.

I'd like to get $50 for it.

Next is a very clean mid 70's Wards.  This one came from Phoenix via Justin.  I haven't had any time to play with it beyond plugging it in and seeing how it sounded.  Very quiet spin and agitation.  I can get more photos if someone is seriously interested.

Cheap - 10 bucks.

Last for the night - a 1955 combination Frigidaire refrigerator.  This puppy WORKS great.  It does need some TLC (seals, etc).  Was originally yellow until it was painted later on down the road.

For $50 bucks, I will throw in a door seal, a spare cold control, and relay.  Otherwise, $25 bucks.

Travis:

I've seen that fridge "in person," and while Avocado isn't my thing, either, it still has an interesting story to tell if you know what you're looking at.

Back when shaded colors were popular, paint stores sold spray paint to use for the purpose of updating older appliances to the new shades, so that you could match new appliances without having to replace everything at once. Each color (Avocado, Harvest and Coppertone) had a base color and the darker shading color available.

As you can imagine, most people didn't do such a hot job with these; most folks can't get a decent job out of a rattle can. But once in a while, you see an appliance treated this way that was done with skill and looks good. The only mistake this fridge's owner made was putting a '60s/'70s color on a stylistically inappropriate appliance; the fridge is so clearly 1950s that the result is a bit jarring.

But I'm here to tell you - you cannot fault the quality of the paint job. It looks almost 100% factory, except that the factory never applied Avocado that far back.

I picked that thing up for Ben and dropped it off to him. I really admire that someone wanted to keep their old fridge bad enough. It's unfortunate that poor yellow fridge got assaulted by avocado. As a child, we had a 1967 kitchen with avocado appliances, lemon yellow counters and dark drown cabinets. Despite the natural light, the room was dreary.

I am anxiously awaiting someone to repaint it and bring it back to it's glory. Hans is the only one here that doesn't like yellow.

I forgot to add one last item to this thread.   A 1974 GE P-7 Microwave Range.

Yes, you read that correctly.  These are very hard to find, and they are almost impossible to find this pristine.  The range was installed in an upscale lower level basement of a house local to me.  It has seen VERY little use.  Everything works, including the clock and microwave.  More photos available upon request.

$125 OBO

Microwave Range

How very cool.   I didn't realize (probably forgot) they offered a nuker in the regular oven cavity!

Ben, what is the control to the far right that looks like another clock?   Or is that the microwave control?

Kevin

Yep - that extra 'clock' to the right is the Microwave timer, which can be set for up to 30 minutes of nuking action.  In theory you could blast something for 25 minutes, then kick the oven on with the delayed timer or use both at the same time. I don't think you could set the delay timer to activate the microwave.

Lacks Storage Drawer, Yes!

There are microwave components behind the lower panel, so no drawer.

How I wish that range was White! It would solve one of my dilemmas with my tiny, tiny kitchen - that of finding counter space for a microwave. I have less than seven feet of counter, including the portion where the sink is.

LOL, I'm not sure that I'd use this as a daily driver microwave.  Heating up a cup of water took almost double the time in this GE than say a late 70's Radarange.  In all actuality it was probably meant to compliment the standard oven rather than to be used solely as a micro.

Kenny,

Are you starting to miss the 1-18 washers?!
Oh, That's about the fridge, I just saw a green 1-18 washer in another thread and I thought it was that one that Ben offered!
LOL!

Ben:

It's really just a pipe dream anyway - if I had a Versatronic, that would free up some counter space needed for a microwave, but I would lose a storage drawer, which as you know is critical in that telephone booth of a kitchen I have.

Still, I think the MW capability would be sufficient for my needs, which are basically for reheating food, not actual cooking so much.
