Think Pink

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

That clip and the movie it came from is probably too gay for Peter Pan and Charles Nelson Rielly, but I liked it. Remember the Carrie Fisher novel "Surrender the Pink"? Also notice the fashion editor never wore pink herself, only extolled it's virtues.

Kay Thompson (the "Think Pink" lady) is way too underappreciated these days. She really was quite a gal - from her nightclub stuff, her creative work with people like Patrick Dennis, Halston, Judy Garland (she was Liza's Godmother, you know) and, of course, the Eloise books.

More fun from "Funny Face" - an over-the-top tribute to France, guaranteed to give Bill O'Reilly and company a stroke ;-)

Frances Faye

Dalangdon, I like Patrick Dennis, his two books in particular, "Little Me" and "The Joyous Season" are hysterical. Frances Faye was big in the nightclub circuit, maybe someone here remembers her. She had a big gay following. Bonjour Parieeee! I have the soundtrack LP and a DVD of Funny Face. Great clip!

That's funny! I got a good laugh!

I drove a friend to the emergency room one night and saw a middle aged cowboy waiting for his pregnant wife to be tended to. He was dressed nicely in cowboy style, hat and all. He had white cowboy boots on, and was holding a brown purse. I wanted to tell him he should have had the boots to match. One of my favorite memories of my Mom were the beautiful purple suede spike heels and matching bag she had. These were nice, they were from some big department store in Lynchburg, VA. Mom loved shoes.

It was about 1974,

I thought it was strange too, my friend just told me cowboys used to wear them on dressy occasions, and of course this was the early '70s when men wore white dress shoes also. And I saw your link coming before I turned it on. I bought that 45 the first week it was out. I love Nancy Sinatra, and buy her albums whenever I see them. Great link!

Jessica Simpson

is easy on the eyes, even tho I lean to the other side. I used to love watching some country-western dance show that had all these sexy cowboys dancing with their ladies. Great video, but a little thin on the testosterone just my opinion. Willie Nelson is hot!

Alan, have you read "First Lady"? It's written in the style of "Little Me", with lots of pictures. It's the biography of a fictional first lady from the Pellagra, Georgia, who rises from poverty via a booze-laced "patent medicine", and with her booze-laced husband gains the White House through election fraud.

Art imitating life, you might say - but written 30 years ago. ;-)

Never read "First Lady"

But I'll sure be looking for it. Is it Patrick Dennis or somebody equally as funny? I'm going to Barnes and Noble today and I'll put in a request for it. Patrick Dennis is back in print BTW, including his biography, his real name is Edward Tanner, he was bi-sexual, fathered two children. Come to think of it, I'm gonna look him up on the internets. LOL!

Oh yeah, Edward Everett Tanner lll

Died November 1976 of pancreatic cancer, at age 55. "First Lady", 1964. I'll be looking for the bio.

The Bio is called "Uncle Mame: The Life of Patrick Dennis", by Eric Myers, and is pretty good. The guy saw some rough stuff during WWII, which kind of messed him up for life, yet he was able to do some really fun, creative things.

And yes, he wrote "First Lady"

I confess, I had gray swade "Simon LeBond" (from Duran Duran) boots in high school. Like in the videos they made like "Save a Prayer fot the morning After" ah, the memories. I wore them alot. I also had those black balloon pants. They were great. Fashion was fun then. Shopping at The Merry-go-round and Bachrach.

I, I'm not gay, I'm NOT!!
(O.K. I really am, and I'm giddy happy about it. teehee)

I got down to Barnes and Noble and totally forgot about Patrick Dennis after all that! I should have immediately known he wrote "First Lady" when you mentioned it before. Yes, he had quite a life, and according to the biographer, he wasn't quite as wonderful a person as all his friends and family wanted to believe. And as far as the boot fad for men in the '80s, I was really out of it. I don't think I have ever had anything that was really trendy.
