Came across an online ad for this Roper fridge. Description states fridge does work but that freezer gets to 0 and fresh-food compartment only gets to 50.

Obviously sealed system is working and so is evaporator fan if freezer is getting that cold. Could it be as simple as air control for FF compartment being set to warmest setting? Or an obstruction has developed in the air duct to the FF compartment?

A problem with cold control/thermostat would make both compartments and not only one either too warm or too cold depending on which way it went out of calibration, correct? I actually had this happen recently with my early 70s Sears Coldspot. Control went bad causing excessive run time. Both compartments were too cold even with control set at warmest setting. I replaced control and then operated correctly.

Ken, I think you may be on the right track with the air duct being obstructed unless the current owners have no idea of how to set the air control -- assuming the fridge has separate controls for top and bottom.  Maybe there's a blob of ice that needs to be melted.

As I looked closer at the picture and looked at other Roper units online there are separate controls for both sections. Another possibility is that it stopped defrosting correctly and ice is blocking the duct to the FF compartment.
