After actively searching for over 2yrs for more pieces to add to the set of china my wife inherited from my grandmother, it finally happened yesterday. I hadn't been at this particular store, Dime & Dollar Thrift, for about 6mos. I always check out the dinnerware section, and this set was on display on an old dining table, set for dinner. I purchased everything listed below for $40.
8 dinner plates
7 cups
8 saucers
8 bread & butter/dessert plates
1 creamer
1 sugar bowl w/ lid missing
1 chop plate
1 serving bowl
Below is the link to replacements.com, and their asking prices for the same pattern.

Tim....That is great. I still add pieces here and there from e-bay for our daily dinnerware, and good china and crystal. My wife loves this stuff and we have several sets.

I just missed out on e-bay for our Lenox crystal. The seller was offering 5 water and 2 wine goblets for 25.49. I bid 26.49 and kept watching till the last 30 seconds, then added 10.00 more dollars, but someone was doing the same and the clock ended and the other person won the auction. I was so mad. I should have bid up to 50.00. Afterall, the goblets run anywhere from 47.00 to 60.00 a piece. So,the 26.00 or even 50.00 for all 7 pieces would have been a real bargain. This was our original crystal pattern which we started to collect in 1977. We have a service for 10, but I wanted to add a few more pieces for breakage since it was discontinued. I did however, get two waterford goblets for 66.00 which is a real bargain since Waterford is temporarily out of business and the pattern is hard to get and they want 80.00 a glass. YIKES!!! I will just have to wait for another bargain to come along an be quicker. lol

Tim. I check e-bay and they have a few pieces. Not as good a price as you got but still nice.

4 soup plates for 9.99

Search Rosemary Fine China of Japan.

Tim. I do not blame you. I would not spend the 50.00 for that same goblet now. The 7 for 26 or 30.00 was a lot better. lol

But do check ebay from time to time. I usually fine a graet bargain.

BTW. Nice china pattern.

Wisconsin thrift stores

polkanut - I've had great luck in Wisconsin Thrift Stores. Try hitting the Goodwill in Antigo. My sister and family live up there. I got a big box of dinnerware out of that place. There is supposed to be a great Second Hand store in Minocqua too!

Gary,

I've found that the Wausau/Schofield Goodwill is sometimes quite high for a thrift store. I should check out the St. Vincent DePaul store in Merrill though. Our Wausau Salvation Army store was closed this summer due to poor sales, and increased competition from the other thrifts in the area. Thanks for the tip about the Goodwill in Antigo.

I'm Liking...

...The thrift stores here in Iowa much better than the ones in Atlanta. Down there, it's all clothes and dusty exercise equipment. Here, there's more furniture and smalls. I bought a little Lane cabinet the other day for only $15. It needs refinishing, but it will eventually house my TV and video equipment behind doors; it's almost exactly the same size as an early-'50s TV console. No pics yet, but here's a photo of a 1954 Stromberg-Carlson TV console that is similar:
