Tiny portable Kenmore Wringer washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My mother had one of these-identical to the picture

She bought this when I was born in 1956 to wash my diapers with. At that time I was the only child. Other items she took to the basement and used a Speed Queen wringer washer with two rinse tubs. After my sister came along in 1958 she upgraded to a 1 cycle Hotpoint "automatic" washer. The laundry was then moved upstairs to the kitchen. It held 10 lbs. of laundry. Then everything changed we my twin brothers were born in 1963. We did not have a clothes dryer until March of 1968. All my Mom did was wash clothes, cook and drove a school bus until my brothers moved out. My Mom was tough!!!

Chicago electric made similar units, and their name was "Handy hot" or something like that......
They were really similar for tubs and internal....perhaps was the same maker that made them for Sears?
Though the Kenmore ones looked different on the control and outside of the lid/motor/drive......
