Toll House Pie

There was a woman who ran a little tiny pie shop up near the cottage for many years. She retired a couple of years ago, and one of the pies that our friend would always want from her shop was the Toll House pie. It's pretty much a chocolate chip cookie in a pie crust. Our friend was visiting with us last weekend, so I thought I would try to make a Toll House pie for her in hopes that it would be close to the one she used to get at the old pie shop. I was delighted when she told me it tasted exactly the same!!

I've been making this pie for over 30 years when I got the recipe from of a magazine ad for Nestles Chocolate Morsels. It is really delicious and very easy to make. I like to heat each slice in the microwave for about 30-45 secs, and serve it with either whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. It is one of my favorite pies. I have used the same recipe and substituted white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts for the semi sweet chips and walnuts and if you like white chocolate/macadamia cookies you'll love this variation too.

I, too, have been making this pie since the early 1980s. Friends beg me to make it. It is best served warm topped with whipped cream.

Kevin - Yep! Pretty much cookie dough baked into a pie shell!

When I go for my physical on Monday and the doctor says "What's going on? You've gained even more weight, your blood pressure is up and your A1c blood sugar level is off the charts" I'm going to print this Toll House Pie recipe and the one for Oatmeal Pie and say "here doc, read these... his name is Kevin an he has an partner-in-crime named Ralph."

Mother Angelica was a treasure

Looked like she has nill room to be critical of diets. Food possibly was her only vice. When she was young, food was rationed. they used to save their used tin foil, etc., and it was collected from the front porch for the war effort.
When my step kids catch me tlling the same old story, they interrupt, and say, and when you were eleven, you only got one toy for Christmas.
No lie, my dad had to buy a new used car that very November. It was a lean Christmas. All 5 of us got mainly clothes.
But, we got to go shopping two days after Christmas for another toy we wanted, and they were all on sale.
