As you can see from the photos, the thing on the shelf that connects to the water source in the back of the unit has rotted. The first photo shows the back of the unit where the water comes in. The second photo shows the connector that rotted off. The third shows the shelf itself.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a replacement? It looks like the thing that rotted might be a separate part that mounts to the shelf.

If I can find one, I will probably need some coaching on how to remove and install the part, but that is what I am hoping to do.

If we can't find this part, we will have to finally retire this old workhorse...

thanks in advance for any help offered!

This part may still be available, if not at an appliance parts store then ebay or through members here.   Others will have to provide the specific part number.

I think KitchenAid used this component on their dishwashers from the mid '70s to at least the mid '90s.

Thanks. Your reply resulted in me doing more searching.

The water supply tube cone that is recommended at the bottom of this page http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDet...ply-Tube/WP4171544/2954?ss=a9b121c23i290&mr=0

looks exactly like ours, so I am wondering if the KitchenAid Dishwasher Water Supply Tube WP4171544 might be the correct part. Ours is a soft rubber and is light blue like the color of the cone, but if this is the correct part and a different color we can definitely live (and wash dishes!) with it.

Does this seem to be the part?

Awesome! I found it in blue too! There is rust on both shelves that will eventually bring us back to this crossroads, but for now that will hopefully do the trick!!

Thanks again to both of you who replied!

The part came quickly. Isn't she lovely? Looking forward to taking the dishwasher for a test drive once we have it full. I suspect it's efficiency will have improved. Who knows how long that tube was rotting, and most likely rotting?!?

Again - many thanks!!!
