One of our own, Toploader55, needs a favor!

As we all know, he is in the process of fixing up his Kitchenaid KD2 Portable dishwasher. He is going to install a new Drain valve assembly in it but needs some additional part numbers that I cannot supply him because I was foolish enough to throw all my old Kitchenaid parts manuals on those older units away many years ago.

If anyone out there happens to have ANY parts manual for any series of earlier machines from the KD11 thru 14 series, can you possibly scan and post the pages of the parts manual which show the drain valve as well as the page(s) that deal with the pumped drain assembly including the water reservoir that attached to the bottom of the drain vlave?

Ed will need to also see the part number listings for these pages as well so please scan them as well.

I know there will be someone out there that still has these manuals and can help him out
Thanks
Steve

KD-14 parts

Hey Steve,

I have parts listings and service info for the 14 series machines - as well as the KD-4P. Unfortunately I don't have the specific listings for the KD-2.

Here are a few scans of the requested pages - let me know if you need anything else.

A lifesaver for sure!

First of all, Thank you so much for the scans. Now Ed can get the correct parts and get his unit going properly. The 14 series is fine as all the parts were all the same for all the machines except the very early units with the horizontally mounted pumps.

And would you believe..I am familaer with the name of IGOE Bros. My office in LIC,NY used to repair the mixers for them and send them back. Man how inexpensive they used to be too.
I am so sorry now that I threw away all my manuals.. I had the complete set from the kd10 thru the 14 which covered all the machined from 1949 thru 1964-65 of that style. Eh? But who knew?

I have those pages...

In a file now so if anyone else needs them, Please contact me. Unbelievable how you guys are so great. The whole world should help out each other like we do.Auto wash.org for President. I guess that means you Robert, and we'll be your cabinet (Porcelain on Steel of course). And maybe Tuff Tub too.Bakelite for treasurer, etc.

A few more

I figured before I bury the KA stack of goodies, I'd scan the service info about the drain valve set-up. Quite an interesting read. Have never messed with this drain assembly myself - but I'm now looking forward to it more than ever! ;-)

I figured 6 more pages for the archive wouldn't hurt anyone. This way if any issues come up during the repairs, the doctrine could be referenced.

An interesting note in the text - is a revision that was made between 1961 and 1962. It seems they updated the design of the drain valve. Judging by the issues members have had in the past - I see why they spent so much time discussing it. This page describes a revision for the up-coming page 34.

Page 38B - more updated info. It seems that if you yank the rod out - you're in for big trouble! I've always wondered about that - if you pull the rod out - then how did they assemble it in the first place without leaking? Always a mystery.

Hopefully you are able to still find some of these parts NOS - a good dishwasher is a non-leaking one!
