Anybody see the latest Toyota commercial It starts with a washing machine shaking and vibrating itself across the floor as a girl attempts to control it. The announcer says "Don't you wish Toyota built everything?" My thought on that is "Don't you wish people would learn how to properly operate things they purchase?"...The washer was probably just a little over loaded, or out of balance.

Roaming washers.....

We had an old Montgomery Ward washer that loved to "Waltz Across Texas". I swear that I loaded it properly, it was leveled, etc. We tried everything. It used to walk all the way to the laundry room door (kitchen access) and block it. I would have to go through the front door, through the garage, and open the access door from the the garage. If I was lucky, it would only partially block the door and I could squeeze through, climb over the washer, shove it back, and pop out through the door. I still laugh about it.

Yes, when I was a small child our 59 GE had a big crush on our speed queen dryer. It often ended up hugging it by the end of the cycle. Grandma had a slightly newer GE setting on the sun porch by the door between the kitchen and sun porch. Quite often it walked in front of the door. She had to go outside and come in the other door and push it back in place. Those machines had a stiffer suspension than the newer ones. Newer GEs allow the inner tub to move about without transfering motion to the outer cabinet. I am sure most everyone here knew that though!
