Why do people call an oven a stove. I thought a stove is what you cook on top of, an oven is what you cook IN. I don't see how this is an oven/stove combination.

Also on a funny note, everytime I hear of Opelika I immediately hear Miss Daisy tell Hoke, "You took the wrong turn at Opelika!" And Hoke say, "No I didn't Miss Daisy, you got the map right there!"

Anyway, nice oven, I don't think we see many Whirlpools wall ovens this early, or double ones at that. I wonder why the lower oven doesn't have a window? I thought it might be a broiler at first, but clearly I see two bake and broil units.

Early 60s WP 24" [ NEW ] Double Wall Oven

These were pretty good ovens in their day.

Why only one window ?, many reasons,

Windows cost extra money to make.

They waste heat

They get dirty and are hard to clean

Having a window in the top oven to keep[ and eye on cake and cookie baking and having none in the lower oven where you-may be more likley to do messy broiling and baking of casseroles actually makes a lot of sense.

I wish there were more ovens built without windows, we are constantly taking customers doors apart to clean out stains. Windows unless they are at eye level are pretty useless, most people will just open the door and peak anyway.

And the energy waste from glass doors is great and with SC ovens the windows don't clean well anyway.
