Hello Everyone:

It’s fun shopping for the various items for our kitchen remodel. While our new refrigerator will have an ice maker, we will not have a water dispenser. I’m getting an under sink filter unit and will have a tap at the sink.

Any recommendations for an under sink filter unit? We do not want an RO system…only a filter unit.

Thanks
Bob

Watts undersink filter

Hi Bob

This is the system that I have.

I have well water and a water softener.

This feeds a separate faucet at the sink and also the ice maker in the fridge.

I use a 3 stage filter but it is also available as a 1 or 2 stage filter.

Mine is mounted in the basement below the kitchen for easier access rather than under the sink, just depends on your situation. This has worked well for me.

We have the Pentair OMNIFilter 10" standard filter housing (U30-S-S18) and use Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 filters (CB3-SS4-S18), both sold locally at Menards, and have been happy with the results.

It's a single stage filter, the smallest of the four standard "whole house filter" sizes, so the flow rates are perfectly fine if not overkill for a sink tap. The filter is rated for lead removal, and a host of other things. At $40 for the housing and $36 every six months for the cartridge, it's an economical combo, and we like that it's a universal/standardized filter cartridge size so there are tons of options should something else be desired.
