Hello all... I am about to open up the unimatic mechanism from one of the washers I bought from Travis last month.... I already have the mechanism removed from the machine, is there anything I need to look out for as I have never seen the inside of one of these beasts? Any bit of info would be greatly appreciated, I have already downloaded the service manual, just wanted to get some input from some folks who have done this before..

What's the problem with the mechanism you're going in to fix?  Is it not spinning or spinning-pulsating at the same time?  Leaking oil from the top, bottom or both?

The Unimatic shop re-operation manual from the library is great, familiarize yourself with the steps before beginning and then when reassembling, take your time and follow the written instructions and parts breakdown diagrams carefully.

Is anything wrong with the transmission?  Bearing noise during spin, torque spring in tact and it spins up, pulsates fine, fan isn't too noisy? Leaky oil pump?  If all of the above are ok I'd suggest changing out the oil and calling it good.  The whole "If it ain't broke don't fix it" applies well to these transmissions.

I have

Two of these washers, the one i tore appart is in rough condition, not too bad though. The other one I have is next to new condition, which is hooked up in my laundry room and in use. The transmission leaks on the nice one, cant tell from where but it operates as it should. The one I have taken apart works but the fan is loose dont know if the pump is good or not, the brake doesnt work at all. I was just going to open it up and see what was going on with the brake.
