Anyways, I'm semi happy to report that dishwasher repair guy just left having installed the new heating element and control board in my KA DW (was subject to a service call) but since I don't have the receipts etc.. I have to pay. $294. groan. That's halfway to the price of a new semi decent dishwasher.
Plus the motor is noisier than it should be but hopefully will last.. if not another $300 service call but the machine will be out on the curb if that happens.

The old element was burned up, you could see it.. The new element is more squarish shaped unlike the old round one. He says it operates on less wattage but the new control circuit keeps it running longer so we'll see.. I've just got the virgin test load in it now.

Hope it works well...Hope the motor lasts as well... $294 is steep though... $600ish would buy you a nicer dishwasher

Whirlpool is a big stickler for having all the documentation to honor any warranty's...If you where to buy a new microwave hood on flebay from an authorized whirlpool dealer who was selling it on clerance, they wouldn't fix it either..You have to have bought it new..
