I’m so glad that your friend got this bad boy working as it was designed to work! Was the magnet just stuck, or was it the thermostat that was stuck? So, does it kick down to low heat after the water has risen to the top?

This is really a beautifully designed early 20th century appliance. You will have lots of fun with this one, especially showing it off to company when you make the coffee for dessert.

Hi Ralph,
The grounds go in the top bowl. As the water boils it is forced up causing the grounds to boil. The filter is either a glass rod or cloth and goes in the center of the upper bowl.
